The land where nature rules

Ascension Island is the most interesting place I have ever been to and we have come back having had the best holiday ever. It is a volcanic island but manages to have banana plantations up on Green mountain along with yams, guavas and papayas. Land crabs are everywhere, donkeys stand in the middle of the road and rats roam on the mountain.

There are not many people living there, about 750 in total. Turtles swim in the pier in the evenings and yellow canaries fly around in the day.

When you arrive at the airport you feel disappointed, it looks volcanic and barren.  You drive about 10 minutes by car and everything changes.  Beaches with white sand, clear blue sea.  Palm trees and flowers. Sun shines all day.

Just one problem - I want to be back there!
